Congress created Manipur crisis: CM N. Biren Singh

Imphal: Manipur chief minister N Biren Singh came down heavily on Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and said that Congress has created Manipur problem.

Speaking to reporters in New Delhi, N. Biren Singh said, “Why Rahul Gandhi is talking about Manipur. If he is in Ladhak, he should about Ladhak, why he is talking about Manipur. What is going in Manipur has been created by Congress. Rahul ji should focus on Congress alliance state,”.

N. Biren Singh on Thursday highlighted the guidance provided by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah in restoring peace in the state and said that after listening to them there is peace in the state.

“We take his advice all the time. After listening to PM Modi’s and Amit Shah’s statements in the Parliament there is peace in Manipur. This is routine work for the rehabilitation and settlement of displaced people. We are here to take the advice of the Home Minister,” Singh stated.

Manipur had been on the boil for the last four months since May 3 after ethnic clashes broke out between two tribal communities Meitis and Kukis when the Manipur High Court asked the state government to consider adding one of the communities to the list of Scheduled Tribes.

Meanwhile, the central and state government has been taking all slew of measures to bring back peace and normalcy in the state.

At least 150 people have been killed and over 400 people were wounded in the violence that began in May.

More than 60,000 have been forced from their homes as the army, parliamentary forces and police struggle to quell violence.
