Sagar (Madhya Pradesh): A heartbreaking incident was reported in Madhya Pradesh’s Sagar, where 4 members of a family allegedly consumed poison and died. The incident happened at Tihar village in Khurai tehsil of Sagar district late on Friday night.
Preliminary investigation indicates towards a mass suicide, however, the reason behind the their deaths is still unknown.
According to Khurai police, “The family consumed a poisonous substance, likely aluminium phosphide (Sulphas). Initial investigation implies a family-related issue. A post-mortem is being conducted, and statements from the family will help uncover the exact cause.”
According to information, the deceased were identified as Manohar Lodhi (45), his mother Phoolrani (70), daughter Shivani (18), and son Aniket (16), who were living in a house near their agricultural land.
Manohar’s wife had recently gone to her parental home.
Manohar’s brother informed police
On Friday night, after hearing sounds of vomiting and coughing from the ground floor, Manohar’s brother – who lives on the upper floor – rushed downstairs. He found the entire family vomiting and immediately alerted nearby villagers and called the police.
With the help of locals, the family members were rushed to the hospital. Sadly, Phoolrani and Aniket died on the spot. Shivani died in Khurai Hospital, and Manohar died on the way to the district hospital.
One of Manohar’s brother was mentally challenged
The family lived with one of Manohar’s brothers who is mentally challenged. The other two brothers live in the village. According to Nandram, another brother, the reason behind the suicide is unclear.
Further investigation is ongoing.
