Indore (Madhya Pradesh): Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) workers gheraoed the city Congress office and protested against the alleged manhandling of BJP MP Pratap Sarangi by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi outside Parliament.

Chaos prevailed at the Congress office on Thursday evening when BJYM workers allegedly pelted stones, and threw black oil, and slippers at the Congress party’s office, leading to a clash with the police. Later, Congress leaders staged demonstration at Pandhrinath Police Station till late evening to get an FIR registered against the accused BJYM leaders.

The protestors accused Rahul Gandhi of behaving in an inappropriate manner, both inside and outside the Parliament. Later, a clash between the police and BJYM workers took place when the cops tried to stop them from entering the Congress office. The agitating BJYM leaders demanded an immediate apology from Gandhi for his actions.

The protest has heightened tensions between BJP and Congress supporters in the city. “The attack by BJYM workers at the Congress office makes it clear that the BJP is suppressing the Opposition through oppressive and hooligan politics.

The police should be impartial and take strict action against these unruly BJYM workers,” MPCC state spokespersons Nilabh Shukla and Amit Chaurasiya, said. Earlier on Thursday morning, Congressmen had staged a demonstration against BJP and Home Minister Amit Shah at Geeta Bhawan Square to protest against his alleged objectionable statement comments on Baba Saheb Ambedkar.

We will respond in the same way: Chaddha BJYM members threw petrol bombs and slippers at our office. It is a warning and a request to the administration—if such actions continue, we will be forced to respond in the same way,”- Surjeet Singh Chaddha, city president, Congress
