Assam : 42 villages affected in Tinsukia due to severe hailstorm, electricity snapped

Guwahati: Nearly, 42 villages were affected due to massive hailstorm in upper Assam Tinsukia district on Saturday night.
According to reports, many big trees were uprooted and fallen on the houses damaging most numbes of houuses in Tinsukia.
Electricity has been snapped for last two days and restortion work has been going on in the district.
Meanwhile, the schools and colleges Tinsukia remain closed on Monday by an order issued by the deputy commissioner Swapneel Paul.
The examinations were also postponed due to the hailstorm which had created havoc in Tinsukia district.
The Tinsukia district administration ( civil) had directed all schools and colleges to shut down on Monday due to the devastating hail and thunderstorms that had claimed two lives and trail of destruction.
The two deceased persons have been identified as Deb Kumar Thakur ,27 of Line Number 1 of Bordubi Tea Estate and Bijoy Manki ,58 of Borhapjan Molan Pathar Village of Doomdooma.
Tinsukia Deputy Commissioner Swapneel Paul visited the affected areas of the district to take stock of the situaton.
Cheques were given by the district administration to the next kin of the deceased as an aid .
An estimated 7000 home has been partly damaged by the storms in the towns and villages both most of them yet to be asserted by the government.
On the other hand the Hapjan tea estate and the factory was affected due to the severe hailstorm which struck Tinsukia on Saturday night. The tea bushes were also affected due to the hailstorm.
In view of the devastating hailstorm damage that occurred on Saturday and Sunday evening, the deputy commissioner has warned the traders not to escalate the price of tarpaulin and CJI sheets.
