Assam: CM Himanta Biswa Sarma says BJP losing in Karnataka no surprise
Guwahati: After the victory of Congress in Karnataka election, Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma stated that the BJP’s defeat in the state was no surprise.
Speaking to reporters in Guwahati, Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma said, “It was kind of fixed that BJP would not do “that good” in Karnataka. Even in the last election, Congress formed the government in Karnataka. After a while, BJP came into being there,”.
He said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s influence remains a prominent factor in the country’s politics, even in cases where the BJP loses an election in a state.
Sarma praised PM Modi as the face of the country.
Meanwhile, as the counting of votes continues in Karnataka, the Congress has expressed confidence in securing a majority in the assembly polls, with trends indicating the same.
On May 1, Himanta Biswa Sarma slammed that Congress party while campaigning for the Karnataka assembly elections.
Sarma said that the Congress party will not win any election for the next 100 years.
“I don’t think that Congress can do anything. Nobody should keep in mind that Congress will come to power. Congress will not win for the next 100 years,” Sarma asserted.
Himanta Biswa Sarma campaigned in Tumakuru constituency. He is one of the star campaigner for BJP in Karnataka elections.
