Mumbai: 14-Year-Old Girl Blackmailed & Sexually Assaulted; Accused Arrested Under POCSO Act

Mumbai: A 42-year-old woman from Nagpada has reported that her 14-year-old daughter was sexually assaulted and blackmailed by a 20-year-old man over nearly three years, from January 2022 to September 2024.

The accused, identified as Yunus, allegedly approached the minor under the guise of friendship, made advances, and threatened to tarnish her reputation in the community and at home.

According to Police, Exploiting the victim’s innocence, the accused sexually assaulted her, which eventually led to her pregnancy. Upon learning about the incident, the girl’s mother immediately reported the matter to the Nagpada Police, urging them to take legal action against Yunus.

Following the complaint, the police registered a case under various sections of the POCSO Act and arrested the accused from Nagpada.

The complainant, a 42-year-old woman and the victim’s mother, resides in the Nagpada locality. According to the complaint, between January 2022 and September 2024, the accused developed a close relationship with the minor and blackmailed her with threats of defaming her within her family and neighborhood.

Taking advantage of her innocence, Yunus sexually assaulted her, which later resulted in her pregnancy. Upon learning about the incident, this matter came in light and then Victim’s mother has reached to Nagpada Police Station.
