Mumbai: 65-Year-Old Doctor Dies By Suicide After Jumping From 42nd Floor In Mumbai Central

A 65-year-old doctor allegedly committed suicide on Saturday afternoon by jumping from the 42nd floor of his residential building in Mumbai Central. Preliminary investigations revealed that he had been suffering from depression. The Nagpada Police have registered an accidental death report.
According to the police, the deceased, identified as Farooq Zaveri, resided with his family on the 42nd floor of Orchid Enclave in Mumbai Central. He had been suffering from depression for the past two years and was receiving treatment for it. On Saturday, at around 3 p.m., he allegedly jumped from his flat on the 42nd floor. His body was found lying in the garden. After his family informed to police, the police arrived the scene and rushed him to JJ Hospital, where the doctor pronounced him dead.
A police officer stated, “The deceased was undergoing treatment and was not running a clinic. He was living with his family. The investigation is in the preliminary stage, and the reason behind his depression is not certain as the incident has just occurred.”
According to sources, a few years ago, cancer was detected in him. He stopped his clinic practice and underwent treatment, however, he later went into depression.
