Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): With Holi and second Friday of Ramzan month coinciding, cops will remain on high alert in the district. Police will patrol sensitive areas with past history of trouble and will keep a strict watch on activities of suspicious persons. Police officials have taken additional steps to ensure peace in the wake of the communal clash at Mhow.
Police is in contact with local elders, religious leaders and prominent citizens to ensure peaceful conclusion of Holika Dahan and Rangpanchami. Police Commissioner Harinarayanachari Mishra said a meeting of religious leaders, Shanti Samiti and volunteers was conducted on Wednesday.
A discussion was held and there was an agreement over the timing of Friday prayers and Holi procession in certain areas to avoid any trouble, he added. Police took out flag marches in old city areas on Thursday evening to instil fear among anti-social elements and trouble makers. Police official said that as precautionary measure they will keep eye on sensitive areas through drones.
Moreover, cameras of Smart City and Bhopal Eye will be used for monitoring activities in sensitive areas. Immediate action will be taken in case anyone is found creating trouble. Officials said that intensive social media monitoring is also underway to identify false news and rumours which may pose threat to communal harmony during festive season. Any rumour or attempt to cause trouble should immediately be reported to the police.
Police warn against drunk driving
In an advisory issued on the occasion of Holi, traffic police have warned against drunk driving. Traffic officials urged citizens against over speeding, triple riding and performing stunts while following traffic rules for their safety.
