Just a Lollipop”: Jetpur Farmers Near Morbi Reject Double Price Offer, Hunger Strike Enters 16th Day as Six Demands Go Unheard
Farmers at Jetpur near Morbi have been on hunger strike for sixteen days now, refusing to budge despite the Gujarat government’s latest offer. The state announced that farmers would receive double the market price for their land needed for electric poles. But the leaders of the agitation from the farmers’ side have outright rejected it, calling the announcement nothing but a “lollipop” meant to divert attention and change the track of the protest.
The farmer leaders have put forward six clear demands that they want formally conveyed and approved by the government. Yet not a single one of those six points has found mention in any official government statement released so far. The gap between what the farmers are asking and what the government has offered has only widened the mistrust.
As the hunger strike enters its 16th day, the agitation at Jetpur near Morbi remains firm and unbroken. The farmers continue to stand their ground with no signs of ending the strike. What began as a protest over compensation has now taken a unique stand in itself, with both sides digging deeper into their positions with each passing day. The standoff near Morbi has become a test of patience, trust, and political will.
