Raj Thackeray’s Patel Remarks Ignite Gujarat Fury: Patidars, AAP Demand Apology
Ahmedabad: Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray’s controversial remarks targeting Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and former PM Morarji Desai have triggered outrage in Gujarat. Speaking on July 18, Thackeray alleged that certain Gujarati businessmen and leaders, including Patel and Desai, once tried to separate Mumbai from Maharashtra, sparking accusations of regional hatred and insults to national icons.
Patidar leader Alpesh Kathiria slammed Thackeray’s “divisive Marathi mentality,” calling his remarks an “insult to Gujarat’s dignitaries” and a bid to revive his fading political relevance. “Targeting Sardar Patel and Morarji Desai is an attack on India’s unity. Thackeray has no moral right to denigrate their legacy,” Kathiria said, demanding a public apology.
Lalji Patel, head of the Patidar organization SPG, warned Thackeray of strong opposition if he enters Gujarat, stating, “Insulting the architect of united India won’t be tolerated.” Gujarat AAP president Isudan Gadhvi criticized the BJP’s silence, urging CM Bhupendra Patel and state BJP chief CR Patil to act. “Book Thackeray and send him to Sabarmati Jail if needed,” Gadhvi demanded.
As tensions rise, the BJP’s response—or lack thereof—remains under scrutiny.

Congress’s ‘Vote Chor, Gaddi Chhod’ Mega Rally at Ramlila Maidan: A Show of Strength Against Alleged Electoral Malpractices
On December 14, 2025, Delhi’s historic Ramlila Maidan transformed into a sea of Congress flags and banners as the Indian National Congress organized a massive rally dubbed ‘Vote Chor, Gaddi Chhod’ (Vote Thief, Vacate the Throne). This event marked a significant escalation in the party’s nationwide campaign against what it alleges are systematic attempts by the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Election Commission of India (ECI) to manipulate electoral rolls through the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process.
