Narendra Modi is an Indian politician and the current Prime Minister of India. He has served as the Chief Minister of Gujarat from 2001 to 2014 and is the Member of Parliament for Varanasi. Modi has been a major political figure in India since the late 1990s and is credited with leading the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to a majority in the 2014 general election. Early Career
Modi began his career as an organizer for the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) in Gujarat and rose through the ranks to become a full-time pracharak (campaigner). In 1987, he joined the BJP and worked his way up the party ranks, eventually becoming the party’s national secretary in 1995. In 2001, he was elected Chief Minister of Gujarat, a position he would hold for the next 13 years.
