Hampi: Come November, you can take buggy trains to the famous tourist spots
Those heading to Hampi will soon have a surprise waiting for them. Travellers to this idyllic destination will soon get to visit the popular tourist places in the World Heritage Site in diesel-powered buggy trains. These well-equipped trains are being introduced to lure more tourists in the region.
Reportedly, after a gap of around six months, tourist inflow in the region is gradually picking pace in Hampi. And now, in a move to attract more tourists, the Hampi World Heritage Area Management Authority (HWAMA) and Ballari district administration have decided to introduce better amenities for visitors.
As per the reports, come November, you might be able to enjoy travelling around Hampi in diesel-powered buggy trains! The 42-seater train is being installed by a Bangalore-based company and the work is in progress.
Now, post-COVID lockdown, a trackless diesel train service will be launched either in the first or second week of November as installation work is underway as a first step to enhance visitor’s experience.
With Unlock 5.0 relaxing more restrictions, people are getting back to their travel plans. Meanwhile, tourist spots are also introducing new features and facilities to attract them, along with ensuring that necessary precautions are in place for more visitors.
Referring to the same, HWAMA Commissioner PN Lokesh said that tourists were allowed to visit Hampi from last month. Nearly 150 to 200 tourists have been visiting Hampi daily since then, he stated. More than 800 tourists flock the world heritage site during weekends, he added.
The Commissioner explained that the diesel train will be operated on a revenue-based system, and that the HWAMA and district administration and HWAMA will be monitoring it regularly. He ensured that all precautionary measures that have been suggested by the government to contain the spread of the Coronavirus will be strictly followed while operating the train.
