A heart transplant ends the 19 year ordeal of 53-year-old male patient from Vadodara. He got new lease of life with donation from brain dead Rahul Solanki of Ahmedabad. The patient became pain free after receiving Rs.7.5 lakh assistance for heart transplant from Chief Minister’s Relief Fund.
The patient was suffering from heart problems since 2003, has finally become pain-free with the donated heart. He underwent double heart valve surgery in the year 2003. Over time, the patient’s heart began to weaken and was working only 10% for the past many days. The patient had completely given up hope that his life would become efficient and would be able to live long.
Then suddenly a ray of hope appeared on 16th July at three o’clock in the morning as he recieved heart transplant through organ donation of 35-year-old brain-dead organ donor Rahul Solanki at the Civil Hospital.
As per details 35-year-old Rahul Solanki, who lives in Naroda area of Ahmedabad, was brought to Ahmedabad Civil Hospital for treatment after a road accident on 10th July. His condition became critical and was shifted to ICU. Even after 5 days of tireless work of the doctors no signs of improvement was noticed and Rahul was declared brain dead by the doctors.
The doctors then inspired his family for organ donation. Most of his family members of have served in the police department and Rahul himself was pursuing the dream of serving the country by getting a government job. Devoted family members gives their consent to organ donation with the spirit of helping others. As a rsult his heart, two kidneys and one liver were donated. His donated heart was taken through the green corridor for transplantation in a patient admitted to the Cims Hospital in Ahmedabad.
The 53-year-old male patient from Vadodara admitted to Cims Hospital underwent a successful 5-hour surgery. According to the doctors the surgery was going to be very challenging. As a result of the patient having undergone double valve replacement surgery, this redu type surgery became extremely challenging. Due to the tireless efforts of the team of 10 doctors, this surgery has been successful. It is worth mentioning here that for heart transplantation, Rs. 7.5 lakhs assistance has been received from Chief Minister’s Relief Fund.
Ahmedabad Civil Hospital Superintendent Dr. Rakesh Joshi said, the organ retrieval team of Ahmedabad Civil Hospital is committed to the service of saving lives with constant dedication. The retrieval of Rahul’s organs started at 3 am. After 6 to 7 hours of hard work the team retrieved two kidneys, a liver and a heart for donation.
