Guwahati, JAN 1: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Sunday(Jan 1) launched 100 CNG buses in the state.

CM Sarma ceremonially  flaged off the launching ceremony in Guwahati.

The CM said with this there will be a change in the public transport system in Guwahati.

The Assam cabinet, in August 2021, announced to purchase a total of 200 electric buses and 100 CNG buses, which will eventually replace ASTC’s diesel-run city buses in Guwahati.

The two filling stations are at the ISBT at Betkuchi and the other one at Ulubari.

The buses will be made operational to reduce pollution and save money on purchasing considerably more expensive fuel.

“We are happy that the CNG buses have took over from old diesel run city buses operates under  ASTC. It will have great advantage for the people because it will have no pollution,” said Gopal Bhowmick, a resident of Guwahati.
