PM Narendra Modi said a Covid-19 vaccine could be ready for India in a few weeks and that vaccination would begin as soon as the Centre gets a go-ahead from the scientists.
During the all-party meet, Opposition parties suggested that the government must vaccinate the poor and vulnerable free of cost. The government plans to include nearly one crore health workers in the first batch of vaccine receivers, followed by nearly two crore frontline workers (police, security personnel, municipal workers, and other essential workers), and 27 crore senior citizens.
These details were reportedly shared by the Union health ministry during the all-party meeting chaired by PM Modi on Friday.
