More than 650 Sanskrit lovers, including students from schools, colleges, Sanskrit Vidyapeeths, participated in the ‘Sanskrit Gaurav Yatra’ organized with the mantra ‘Jayatu Sanskritam Jayatu Bharatam’
With the aim of ensuring that today’s young generation knows and understands the great Vedas of India as well as the mother of all languages, ‘Sanskrit’ language and implements it in life, The state government has started the celebration of ‘Sanskrit Saptah’ from August 6 to August 12. According to the new education policy 2020 implemented by the central government, Sanskrit language has been given special priority in the curriculum to impart knowledge of Indian culture and tradition among students, Education Minister Dr. Kuber Dindor said at an event in Pethapur, Gandhinagar.
Under this state-level ‘Sanskrit Saptah Mahotsav’ organized by the Gujarat State Sanskrit Board, District Education Officer’s Office and Samarpan Arts and Commerce College Gandhinagar, a grand ‘Vedyatra-Sanskrit Gaurav Yatra’ was flagged off at Pethapur, Gandhinagar with a worship ceremony and chanting of mantras by Education Minister Dr. Kuber Dindor and Mayor of Gandhinagar Municipal Corporation Miraben Patel on Wednesday.
Education Minister Dr. Dindor said that every year, when Sanskrit Day is celebrated across India including Gujarat on the day of ‘Raksha Bandhan’, the Gujarat State Sanskrit Board under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhupendrabhai Patel has started celebrating Sanskrit Week in all districts across the state starting from August 6.
For further promotion of Sanskrit language, various programs will be organized during this week with the mantra ‘Jayatu Sanskritam Jayatu Bharatam’ like Sanskrit Gaurav Yatra, Sambhashan Divas, Sanskrit Literature Day, worship of Vedas including Samaveda, Rigveda, Yajurveda and Atharvaveda, Rishi Puja, Shastra Puja etc.
While on the last day of the week i.e. on August 12, the concluding program will be held under the chairmanship of Governor Acharya Devvrat, the Minister said that the concluding program will be held under the chairmanship of Governor Acharya Devvrat and called upon everyone to participate in this week.
On this occasion, Gandhinagar North MLA Smt. Ritaben Patel, District Collector Shri Mehul Dave, District Development Officer Shri B.J. Patel and Gandhinagar District Education Officer Shri Bhagwanbhai Prajapati were present and participated in this yatra.
With the slogan of ‘Jayatu Sanskritam Jayatu Bharatam’ and placards promoting Sanskrit language, the ‘Sanskrit Gaurav Yatra’ was organized from Ramdevpir Temple to Pethapur Chokdi. More than 650 Sanskrit lovers including high officials of the District Administration-State Sanskrit Board, Dr. Mahendrasinh Vaghela of Samarpan Arts and Commerce College, Principal Dr. Ashish Dave, students of Secondary Schools, Sanskrit Vidyapeeth participated in it.
