Nizamuddin Mandal, an aide to TMC politician Anubrata Mandal, was detained by Birbhum Police on Saturday night in connection with a murder investigation, hours after the Enforcement Directorate (ED) questioned him over the ongoing investigation into the cattle smuggling case.
Tulu Mandal, also known as Nizamuddin Mandal, was turned over to the police on Sunday and lodged there for four days. According to the police, Nizamuddin has been detained on suspicion of murder as well as criminal intimidation. According to police sources, on October 3 there was a fight in the Mohammad Bazaar neighbourhood during which one individual was hurt. Tulu was initially charged with attempted murder. Recently, the injured person who had been admitted to the hospital died, which prompted the police to accuse Tulu of murder.
