Assam: CM Himanta Biswa Sarma says eviction drive on government land will continue
Guwahati, Feb 18: Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Saturday said the eviction drives to clear government and forest land in Assam will continue.
Talking to media persons, Sarma said, “We will continue the eviction drive and the people are illegally occupied government land. It is a continuous process and it won’t stop. Our drive will continue till the forest land are not clear,”.
Sarma claimed that Congress MLA Nurul Huda from Rupohihat Constituency cooperated a lot with the state government with the ongoing eviction drive.
From last year, the state government has started a masive drive against eviction and so far huge hectares of government land were clear from encroachment.
Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma lauded the government effort to clear encroachment from the Burhachaproi wildlife sanctuary and said that the move bore fruit as an elephant visited the evicted areas.
Sarma informed that over 2,000 hectares of land were cleared in the last three days.
”An encouraging sight! Our efforts to clear encroachment from Burhachapori WLS bore fruit almost instantaneously as a jumbo visited the evicted areas this evening. Over 2,000-HA land was cleared in Siali, Lathimari & other WLS areas in past 3 days without any untoward incident,” Assam chief minister Sarma tweeted.
