Through non-fare revenue, Kolkata Metro records Rs 1.2 crore in 8 months
With only 34 stations, Metro Railway placed fifth among all Indian Railways’ zonal railways in cumulative non-fare revenue (NFR) revenues between April 1, 2022, and November 30, 2022, earning Rs 19.2 crore.
The cumulative non-fare income profits of Metro Railway during the same time period of the last fiscal year were Rs 7.3 crore. In addition to the usual sources of income, Indian Railways is undertaking a number of measures to improve non-fare revenue.
As a division of Indian Railways, Metro Railway has played a key role in this project and has implemented a number of cutting-edge strategies to boost its revenue, which is typically entirely reliant on passenger fees.
As part of that effort, Metro Railway has concentrated on revenue generated from advertisements inside and outside Metro rakes, hoardings in public areas, and revenue from innovative sources like setting up health check-up booths at various stations, among other things.
AFC-PC gates and flaps, track side walls, card balance checking terminals, automatic smart card recharge machines, the installation of food kiosks, smart card branding, token branding, and other creative ideas have all been put into practise by Metro Railway. Due to this, the non-fare revenue has significantly increased
