Voices from the cockpit: CVR recovered from AI 171 wreckage; key to unravelling final moments of Ahmedabad-London flight

The Cockpit Voice Recorder (CVR) from the crashed Air India flight AI 171 in Ahmedabad has been recovered, according to a government release. The CVR a crucial ‘black box’, records cockpit audio, including pilot conversations and alarms. The Flight Data Recorder (FDR) was previously found. The Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau and the NTSB are investigating the crash.

“The AAIB and NTSB launched a detailed investigation, and the NTSB is conducting a parallel probe under international protocols since the aircraft is American made. Officials confirmed that the flight data recorder and cockpit voice recorder were located and secured,” the govt release said.
