Ancient Shani Temple In Indore: Testament To Faith, Miracles & Cultural Heritage
Indore (Madhya Pradesh): The ancient Shani Temple in Indore’s Juni Indore area is a testament to faith, miracles, and rich cultural heritage. According to local lore, the temple’s origins date back nearly 300 years. A divine message from Lord Shani himself led Pandit Gopal Das Tiwari, the temple’s first priest, to excavate a statue of the deity buried within a 20-foot-high mound.
Miraculously, his blindness was cured after Lord Shani assured him, “Open your eyes, and you will see everything.” The priest’s sight was restored, and he unearthed the statue, which was subsequently installed in the temple. Another remarkable miracle is believed to have occurred when the statue of Lord Shani shifted to its present location on Shani Amavasya.
The temple celebrates Shani Jayanti with great fervour, attracting renowned musicians and artists from across India. The festival showcases classical music and dance, drawing large crowds of devotees and tourists.
