Rising Blue Bull Menace Sparks Debate In Madhya Pradesh Assembly, Govt Promises Action

Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): As the challenges posed by the growing population of blue bulls rocked the state assembly on Thursday, the government assured that appropriate measures would be taken to tackle the problem.

Raising the issue during question hour, Congress MLA from Mandsaur Vipin Jain said the blue bulls, locally known as rojer and ghodarojm were damaging the crops of farmers and also becoming the cause of accidents in his constituency. He said the problem persisted in the entire Ujjain district as well, as the number of blue bulls had increased to lakhs. He demanded that the government give money to farmers for fencing of their farmland so that crops could be protected from the blue bulls.

MLA Shailendra Pandey said that akin to cow sanctuaries, division level planning should be done to control the menace. He said in his constituency, farmers had stopped sowing tuar crop due to the blue bull threat. Mahesh Parmar said in Malwa, wild boars were also becoming the cause of road accidents and something should be done in this regard.

Another MLA Bhawar Singh Shekawat said that the blue bulls ran on roads at great speed and seven people had died due to accidents in his assembly constituency. Intervening in the matter, Speaker Narendra Singh Tomar said that fencing would be of no use as blue bulls could jump up to 12 feet. He too felt that if the number of these animals increased further, it would become a major problem.
