IndiGo and Adani Airports Partner to Boost India’s Global Aviation Presence
Navi Mumbai, May 28, 2025: IndiGo, India’s leading airline, and Adani Airport Holdings Ltd. (AAHL), the country’s largest operator of PPP airports, have announced a landmark partnership to launch commercial flight operations from Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA). This collaboration aims to drive India’s aviation growth, supporting its ambition to become the third-largest aviation economy by 2030.
IndiGo will lead as the first airline to operate from NMIA, starting with 18 daily departures (36 ATMs) to over 15 cities on day one. By November 2025, operations will scale to 79 daily departures (158 ATMs), including 14 international flights, and further expand to over 100 daily departures (200 ATMs) by March 2026. By November 2026, IndiGo plans to operate 140 daily departures (280 ATMs), with 30 international flights.
Pieter Elbers, CEO, IndiGo, stated: “As the first airline to operate from NMIA, IndiGo is proud to contribute to India’s booming aviation sector. This partnership reflects our commitment to meeting the needs of aspirational travelers with affordable, reliable, and seamless services across our extensive network.”
Arun Bansal, CEO, AAHL, added: “We are thrilled to partner with IndiGo as NMIA’s first airline. This collaboration positions NMIA as a key domestic and international transfer hub, enhancing convenience and travel options for millions while strengthening its role as a regional aviation gateway.”
NMIA is poised to become India’s premier international aviation hub, featuring state-of-the-art facilities and seamless connectivity. Initially, it will handle 20 million passengers and 0.5 million metric tonnes of cargo annually, with a future capacity of 90 million passengers and 3.2 million metric tonnes of cargo.
The partnership will establish a dual-airport system for Mumbai, easing congestion at the existing airport and boosting economic growth in the region. IndiGo’s expanded network from NMIA underscores its focus on accessibility and customer convenience, unlocking new opportunities and reinforcing India’s aviation future.
