Wild Story! Kanha Reserve’s Vengeful Tigress Injures Tiger In Vicious Attack After It Kills Her Cub

Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): To mate with a young tigress, a tiger killed her six-month- old cub in Kisli range of Kanha Tiger Reserve on Friday morning. Subsequently, the furious and fiercely protective tigress attacked the tiger, injuring him.

Now, the Kanha forest officials are looking after the tiger and treating it.

Sources in the Kanha Tiger Reserve said that the elephant squad had heard the growling sound of two felines in Kisli range at 6 AM on Friday and it appeared that they were fighting.

When the elephant squad reached the spot, a six-month-old cub was lying dead. A forest officer said that in the bid to protect the cub, the tigress had fought a pitched battle with the tiger, leaving the latter injured. “Now we are monitoring the injured tiger,” he said.

In the meantime, after the autopsy, the carcass of the cub was burnt in the presence of senior officers.

Field director of Kanha Tiger Reserve, Ravindra Mani Tripathi said it was the natural behaviour of tigers that they killed cubs of a tigress during mating attempt.

Tiger tranquilised for treatment

A tiger was tranquilised for treatment in Kanha Tiger Reserve on Saturday. The tiger had sustained claw injuries in a territorial fight with another feline and had been moving in an injured condition for the past some time.

At first the forest officials waited, thinking the injury may get healed on its own but when it was seen that there was no improvement, the tiger was sedated for treatment.
